The Eden Valley

Once playing an essential role in the Wealden iron industry, Edenbridge – the commercial centre of the Eden Valley -  features many hallmark medieval timber buildings, as well as the many former mills that took advantage of the power of the River Eden.

Eden Valley Museum, in a medieval farmhouse in the centre of historic Edenbridge, offers an overview of the town’s history and the delights to be discovered in the relaxing Eden Valley countryside.

Visitors seeking local produce and excellent eateries have a wide choice of destinations for memorable dining. Seasoned ramblers or more occasional walkers can find substantial fare in Edenbridge and its surrounding villages throughout the year.

With good rail and road routes, Edenbridge is easily accessible for a day out or a place to stay to take advantage of the numerous attractions and villages nearby.

Film and television historical drama enthusiasts are bound to recognise Hever Castle  – the childhood home of Anne Boleyn – with its impressive grounds and  gardens, and the splendour of Penshurst Place  - still a family home as well as one of the most noteworthy days out in the county.

Both Hever Castle and Penshurst Place stage numerous events for all the family throughout the year, celebrating their gardens and their many historic connections.
